This Week...

Some students from out class (Sayla, Nikau, Chico and Eloise.) went to M.O.T.E.C to do a technology challenge.
We all had a great time making cool stuff.
We got some materials and we had to use just the materials to make 4 different challenges.
We got 20-30 minutes on each challenge and each time we finished the judges would judge each schools project and the schools would get points for successfully completing tasks.
Tasman school won and got a really cool trophy.
There was prizes for the best dressed up and the team with the most points.

Papier - Mâché
We have been doing paper mâché in Indigo Room.
The topic we have been doing is New Zealand birds.
It was really fun and we are going to do more work on them.
Everyone in the class has their own type of bird that they are doing it on but some people are doing it on the same bird e.g Fantail and the Rifleman.
We have already done a couple of layers of paper and glue but we still have a lot to go on the the birds.

What you will need to do:

  • A balloon, a container of glue and a sheet or two of news paper.
  • Then you blow up the balloon and put glue on the balloon or on the paper then put the paper on the balloon and cover the whole balloon.
  • Do four layers and then let it dry.
  • Then make a beck and make some feet stick them on the bird.
  • Then paint the bird with the colours of the real.
  • Then make sure you let the paint dry and then wow you are done.
Have fun with your paper mâché bird.
