Last week (Week 9) was the Year 5 & 6 Library Book Quiz at Parklands School. Riley, Ada, Louie and Nikau went to represent us with their library knowledge. Their hard work paid off as they came second out of 12 teams!
The four of them had to study lots in and out of school, often missing news presentation, math certificate and other things to practice in the library. Some of the things they had to do included reading set books and writing notes about them, ( the books were Dragon Defenders and A.N.Z.A.C Animals)and thinking up costumes to wear, (the costume that they wore was a taniwha).
Also last week was the Regional Cross-Country. On Friday 29, five runners, ( Riley, Ada, Tawn, Sayla and Ruby M) went to Rabbit Island to compete against hundreds of other runners. First was Ruby and Sayla's race; they were up against
around 80 other kids, so it was pretty cool that Ruby got eighth and Sayla got 24th!
For a while the y5 boys were racing and after that it was Riley, Ada and Tawn's race.
They had a good start but got tired early and in the end Ada came 11th, Tawn came 13th and Riley came 35th. But, as a team they won Best Small School! So altogether one runner in the Inter-Regionals and one trophy! Good result.
