Chapter Chat 18 - W1 - Chapters 1-7
TASKS - Choose from the following:
1. ART - Draw a picture of Stanley. Or draw a picture of a yellow-spotted lizard. Or draw a picture of the water truck.
2. Make a map of Camp Green Lake. Remember to include everything that has been mentioned in the story.
3. Make a character list. List every character mentioned in the story so far and describe them. Add to your character list as the story goes on.
4. Dig or create the exact same size hole as in the story (5 feet by 5 feet).
5. RESEARCH - Select one of the creatures that inhabit the desert at Camp Green Lake (Lizards, Scorpions or Rattlin’ Snakes) and research about them. Where does it live? What does it eat? What is the most interesting fact about the creature you selected? Present your information in a poster with illustrations.
6. HANDS ON - Make the sign 'You are entering Camp Green Lake Juvenile Correctional Facility'.
7. VOCABULARY - Find the meaning for the following words: Perseverance, desolate, excavated, preposterous and grimaced.
8. WRITING - Make up a set of rules for Camp Green Lake. Include the rules mentioned so far and make up some of your own. Present in a poster.
9. FLIPGRID - What do you think of Stanley? What type of person is he? How do you think Stanley was feelings about being at Camp Green Lake? Add your thoughts to this FLIPGRID:
