Bark Bay
Last Friday Room 4 and the ATYA leaders went to Bark Bay. First we drove to Kaiteriteri and got on the Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle. Unfortunately we could not go to the top of the boat because of Covid.
But that was fine plus we got to see lots of seal pups.
We got off the boat at Medlands Beach and talked about health and safety, then
walked to the Bark Bay sand spit, which took about 15 minutes.
Once we got to Bark Bay, we had morning tea on the sandspit and had a play on the sand.
Then we split up into two groups one group did some planting and weeding while the other group put out chew cards then the groups swapped
around.
Then it was lunch.
After lunch, we went to the Bark Bay Hut and looked at the insect rounds we put out last year.
Some people got insects, like spiders and woodlice.
But then again, some people got NONE.
After that we went for a walk to the swingbridge. When we passed there, Craig ( Kaisami’s dad ) ran ahead to check if the estuary was fine to walk across. It was, so we did.
After that, we had a sand sculpture competition. You had a choice of Nararahuyo and Huriawa. Nararahuyo was the bad one and Huriawa was the good one.
Then we caught the boat back but we got to go on the top of the boat to Anchorage, because we were the only ones on the boat.
It was a really fun day!
